Update, June 12, 2024.
We are currently fundraising for additional costs for legal as we head into court on June 17th in Victoria BC. The judge has granted us 5 days in court instead of the 2 days we had originally hoped for. This is great news for our cause. Please sign up to be a member or make a donation.
For those of us who are legal short term rental owners, we STRONGLY encourage you to join as full members. The cost of membership at $297 upfront and $19/mth is extremely modest relative to the investment and time you surely have put into acquiring your legal short term rental property.
Defending the rights of our member owners is both a time consuming and expensive proposition for the Property Rights BC group, and requires tremendous financial resources to procure professionals in legal, and advocacy.
Regardless of what market, if you are a legal short term rental owner anywhere in BC, we implore you to become a full member which will allow the association to better defend against government overreach and restore the intended use of your property. Without your financial donations, these efforts would simply not be possible. Please do not sit on the sidelines, JOIN NOW!
Are you concerned about the short term rental accommodation act’s infringement on the vested rights of property owners, and the precedent that it sets for future property rights cases? If so, we would sincerely appreciate your financial support.
The changes laid out in the Short Term Rental Accommodations Act, pave the way for further government overreach surrounding vested property rights, and have peripheral impacts on many industries.
We greatly appreciate your donation to the cause, please click the Donate button below.
Donations of $500 or more come with an annual membership. The minimum donation of $120 will give you a temporary 3 month membership.

1. If I choose to donate or become a member, can I maintain anonymity?
Certainly, our membership list is strictly confidential and will never be sold or made public. You can participate in group communication as actively or passively as you prefer. We recognize that some individuals prefer to maintain a lower profile, and discretion is of utmost importance to us.
2. How can I obtain a receipt for my contributions?
You can email us for a receipt at info@propertyrightsbc.org.
3. I donated more than $500 and was informed that I would receive a complimentary one-year membership. What are the next steps for me?
Email us with your name and email address at info@propertyrightsbc.org
4. If the association proceeds with legal action, does that signify the cessation of all advocacy efforts?
The long-term advocacy and relationship building between municipal, provincial and local associations will continue to be a focus for us regardless of any legal outcome.
5. Can anyone who supports this cause donate?
Yes there are many reasons non short term rental owners would contribute to this cause:
- Legal non conforming rights transcend short term rentals and if you are concerned about protecting those rights into the future, yes please donate.
- Everyone who cares about property rights infringement should care about this movement. Today Short Term Rental rights are being infringed. What's next?
- Many people may be interested in supporting this cause to avoid limitations on future travel accommodations.
